Light or dark, straight or curved, smooth or rugged. I feel life can be better when one lets go of constraints. In the beginning, my artwork consisted of straight lines and “proper” color and form, but in time, my work became freer and lighter. My work seems to wander from near realism to a more loose painterly and/or whimsical style and back again. I let my work “arrive”, often with no specifics in mind but an idea. I love bright colors and unusual texture. I have been told my work is “feel good art.” It is also a bit eclectic. I take from past experiences and places visited and from the different medias available to me. For me, each painting is a place I can practice letting go and use my intuition rather than my intellect. It isn’t an easy task and sometimes a struggle to let go. But when I do, the fun begins.
I love hearing what people see in those pieces and usually each sees a different image. I am glad I bring those images to you. When you look at my paintings I hope you too will find a sense of fun and freedom and take away a “feel good” feeling too.
